Our Instructor Development Course
During our IDC, we aim to offer you exceptional training from our PADI Course Director, Ann Christmas, one of only 2 female Course Directors in this region.
We are running a ‘ready for work’ IDC which not only polishes up your DM skills, but arranges work placement with a dive centre in Khao Lak.
Our aim is not only to make you confident teaching in the classroom, swimming pool and ocean but to give you a good understanding of how PADI courses are run and how you can plan these courses in the best way for the students and yourself. We will have a close look at each of the dive courses you will teach in the future and see what skills and theory are involved in each course.
As a 5 star IDC centre, we are very heavily into protecting our environment. We are 100% Aware, which means we donate money to Project Aware with every course we do. We support our local Trash Hero cleanups, and support Shark Guardian.
What will I learn?
You will learn all the latest teaching techniques. As soon as you book you will gain access to our unique online learning hub. It includes theory assessments and knowledge reviews, checklists and revision aids, with lots of extra material for you to use once you start teaching. We use the latest digital products during your Instructor Development Course.
Our schedule includes revision for theory and skills, as well as extra training in emergency procedures, accident management and accident prevention. We also include a FREE Human Factors in Diving seminar. We offer lifetime access to our extra materials.

The Course Director
Ann has been working in Khao Lak since 2013. Having staffed IDCs for many years, she has now established herself as a Course Director and is putting those years of experience into practice here at G2S.
She is patient, thorough, and fun, with a way of making even complicated things seem easy. As one of only 2 female Course Directors in this area, she will get you to achieve your best with smiles and encouragement.
Ann runs small IDCs with the emphasis on high quality training, personal attention, and flexible scheduling to make sure that you are confident, competent and ready to teach.
She has developed her own Human Factors in Diving seminar, which is included in her IDC program. It focuses on reasons why accidents happen (and how to avoid them), how to become a good dive leader and ways to keep you and your team safe.
Instructor Specialties Available
The most popular specialties with recreational divers are Nitrox and Deep, so if you are only doing 2 Instructor Specialties then you should definitely consider these two.
Instructor Specialties that are available to you in Khao Lak are:
With 5 or more Instructor Specialties and 25 certifications, you can become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. See our MSDT packages.
Phenomenal Mentor
Ann was staff instructor on my IDC and I can’t say enough how happy I am that she was. This woman is super motivated, organised and has a great sense of humour that lightens up any subject. She is very patient and willing to give extra help and tips if your struggling especially with theory. I also really appreciated her firmness of holding us to a higher standard, helping us grow and become quality instructors. All the constructive feedback and many words of wisdom and her way of putting your worries at ease really made a difference. Her passion really shines through. Thanks again Ann.

First-Rate Instructor
Ann has the patience of a saint, both when working with beginners who are doing a scuba review and when she is developing entry-level professionals for their Divemaster certification. Her ability to put herself in the shoes (fins?) of her student and gently nudge them along makes her a favoured instructor in the dive centre where I managed about 90 staff. She has since become a Course Director and applies the same principles, including a generous amount of wit to developing Open Water Scuba Instructors. You cannot have a better instructor, especially if you're trying to overcome any issues or challenges.

Ten out of ten
Ann is a very passionate and informative teacher!! She has a broad knowledge on dive theory and portrays it well to her students. She is very kind and patient. Ann was staffing my IDC last year and without her I wouldn't have passed my theory exams the way that I did. Her analogies saved my life. The comparisons and familiarities she used in her explanations and teaching made the KISS (keep it so simple) seem all so realistic in what was a very stressful time for me. She was a total rockstar. She has a dedication to teaching and engages with her students, she will go out of her way to ensure you have an understanding, with her years of experience she has a lot of knowledge to give, especially for new professionals in the industry. So I believe her new title as a Course Director is perfect for her. It's important IDC candidates have a mentor like Ann. Her experience, advice, skills and teaching, I rate a ten out of ten!!.

Instructing with a smile
I had been lucky to be taught by Ann on several occasions in the past few years. Ann is a detailed instructor and does not compromise. Each element of the training is described and exercised until the students are able to demonstrate the exercise themselves without issues or doubts. Each training is performed in a great atmosphere and with fun our sport deserves. Ann’s attitude has always been very positive, instructing with a smile and personal touch. Needless to say, Ann is my and my partner’s favourite dive instructor combining very positive approach to every student, thorough training agenda and great training infrastructure. We will be back to expand our skills making use of Ann’s passion, knowledge and experience in our sport.

Supportive and Knowledgeable
I completed my instructor course (IDC) with Ann at Go2Similan and I would highly recommend the course with her. Ann is a very supportive and knowledgeable course director and she adapted the course to my needs. This included providing time for refreshing skills before the course began, adapting the schedule to reduce stress or pressure and offering a small group size. I enjoyed Ann's positivity, honesty and thoroughness. She openly shared her own experiences as an instructor, would slowly and clearly explain any questions or issues and was always on hand to help. This enabled us to feel confident and safe as new instructors. Following the course Ann supported me to begin dive guiding on the liveaboards in the Similans and continued to provide support, advice and friendship.

Approachable Teaching Style
Ann was the Course Director for my PADI IDC. Very professional and knowledgeable with a great, approachable teaching style. I was extremely prepared for my IE thanks to Ann, who let us know exactly what to expect. I found her to be a great role model for younger DM trainees as well. Overall a very good experience and I would highly recommend Ann for anyone looking to do their PADI IDC.
